Hi everyone. I recently got a job offer for a community pharmacy in the Bay Area, and the hourly pay is $58 an hour. How does this compare to the general pay in the Bay Area?

In other words, "Hey man, who cares if they screw you. Worry about it later."Who cares? Just take the job...it's BAY AREA! Come on man, people are dying to be in your position. If you're not happy, then hunt for another job after a year.

In other words, "Hey man, who cares if they screw you. Worry about it later."
What a joke!![]()
No one said all the advice on here is good advice....actually some of it is flat out horrible advice.😉

Exactly. This Got Em charachter just ragged me out for supposedly lying about the job market in one of my prior posts when that wasn't even the main subject, stated I was overly pessimistic when they failed to read the second thread I had posted about how there were some jobs avail in my area, and acted beyond rude and unprofessional. If this individual is actually a pharmacist (which I doubt) they wouldn't be flying off the handle with half cocked answers like "take anything in the bay area" as you would presume a pharmacist to have some minimal level of intellect and be capable of a much better response.
How are you are posting about being "rude and unprofessional" when typed "you just got owned!" in the other thread? Good one.
How are you even agreeing with other people in this thread when your original post is about how bad pharmacy is becoming and how people should fear for their lives? How are you then going to cover for yourself and post another thread about how there are jobs now? Good one.
How are you complaining about anybody else having a "minimal level of intellect" when you post stuff like "you just got owned!". So where is your "intellect" when I'm basically making fun of you in saying that the sky is falling and there are no jobs, so take the job NOW. Which side are you on? You can't play both sides. You also can't talk about being "professional" when you are not. Good job.
Ok, Ok.. Totally was over the top with the you got owned comment, and I appologize for that, it was only meant in jest. My point is that there IS jobs out there, but you have to know someone to get a lot of them. The point of knowing individuals who have been FIRED, is only to let you and anyone else on here know that with a tough enough DM, it's entirely possible to get let go. I'm definitely not trying to say everyone will get fired/laid off in retail, just wanted to spread the word that it is ineede possible, remember most rph jobs are at will employment; so no need to walk around scared, but you might think twice before going head to head with your DM, or quitting without another job lined up. And remember, this is merely an Internet forum, don't get too worried about what people say or take it too personal on here.
Apology accepted. The above comment is actually similar to what I've been saying on this board. It is a tough time right now and difficult to find jobs in certain areas. Students should network and make important contacts, instead of worrying too much about grades. I'm not saying make Ds, but if you're the type that just have to make an A+ on everything, maybe it's a better idea to use the extra time to make a few contacts and "settle" for a B or A-. When looking for a job, the idea is to be proactive and open about location/shift times, pay scale, etc. I agree with you that pharmacists can't just "demand" certain things like they could 10 years ago....have to pick and choose what to say to your superiors.
