For an IMG, what's the deal with California? Are there separate rules for applying to this state? Do you need some special certification, other than the regular ECFMG certification? How does one go about getting it?

    Thanks.

Ok, I did some search. They seem to have a whole bunch of requirements.

I do not have: an SSN or an ECFMG certification (expecting Step 2 scores in mid-Oct and ECFMG certification by Nov). Does this mean that I cannot/should not apply for the California Letter, esp. given that they take as long as 90 days to process? And, if I don't have a California letter, does this mean I cannot apply to ANY residency program in California?
