I'm just wondering what are the rules or guidelines regarding who and who should not do coronary angiograms and procedures. For example I've often heard the argument that in rural areas doctors can cross train in other areas. What's to stop a peripheral endovascular surgeon wandering north and starting to do cardiac caths after a so-called 'mini-fellowship' somewhere. (Sounds crazy, but the flip-side is many cardiologists wander into peripheral angio territory, so why is the inverse not true?)

Are their guidelines, training requirements and so on? What about outside the USA?
