How long before acupuncturists, homeopaths, Rikki doctors, ayurvedic "practitioners", yoga therapists, and the rest of the bunch get in on the act?

Hell I hear next they'll start letting RNs bill Medicare direclty for "patient services rendered" as well.

Meanwhile, we hear every year about how the total amount of money paid to everybody is capped and limits growth due to the SGR formula.

Remember guys you are getting paid out of the same pool of money that the rest of these scoundrels get.

P.S. The history of Medicare is incredibly ironic. Doctors were shoved kicking and screaming into Medicare and wanted no part of it. The AMA was strictly opposed to it but lost the fight in Congress. The times they are a changin' Now everybody and their bother is lining up at the govt trought trying to stick their dirty nose under the tent and sniff what was forced on us by the federal govt in 1964. Every time one of them squeezes their way into the tent means less reimbursement for all of us.

I don't think you understand, friend. The government wants as many people as possible to be able to tap into Medicare for as many reasons as possible. That's how they incrementally create national socialized medicine. (A different but related issue are the SCHIP programs for uninsured children. Many states are attempting to redefine "children" to be anyone under the age of 25 and allows families making $80K to be covered by you and me.)

Sounds like we should demand payments Cash/Credit-card On Delivery....

I dont know.. I honestly dont know how any human being could afford anything in a hospital... I mean all my ward is on Benadryl prn itching, Zofran prn nausea, Protonix and Lovenox for ppx. The patients don't even pay for their own meals. It's becoming more like an expensive plane ride.

I am just saying... we as physicians are slowly lost control in the hospital.
