looking around, it seems like Rush has a very high community service requirement for its applicants, and its not even worth applying unless you have 1000+ hours of service. do you think military service could be a demonstrated dedication to community service, even if your actual volunteering hours aren't crazy (~300-400 split between clinical and non-clinical)? Or is it not worth applying?

Yes! Military experience is looked upon very highly by adcoms and it should. It shows a dedication to service that is unmatched. You are more than fine for Rush. Apply anywhere you please if stats are not the problem.

Awesome! I appreciate the answer. I was thinking applying to Rush might just be burning money, but if I can fit their standards (and with a connection to Chicago) it may end up being a good match for me!

I have been told by many ADCOMs on here that my entirety of military activities will be considered service at most institutions, including the non-volunteering portions. N=1, but from multiple sources so I guess n=4? Military service is sufficient demonstration of service even for mission based schools.

Thanks, its great to hear that from someone else!
