I'm trying to decide between the two so any help would really be appreciated!! For context, I currently live in NYC and want to later practice in NYC.

I was also accepted into Albany Medical College however, for me it is imperative to live in an enjoyable and lively city.

Regarding the MD/MBA: eventually I would like to be chief of some department. Not necessarily the chairman but maybe chief of clinical services or faculty affairs etc.

Highly prioritized specialties: Emergency Medicine and Interventional Radiology

BUFFALO P&C's

Pros:
1. In a great city (Not too distracting like NYC, but still some life)
2. a. In New York (Not too far from family/friends)
b. Being in NY, will help me match into NY (Want to practice in NY)
3. Absolutely brand new and gorgeous school
4. P/f grading
5. Low in-state tuition costs
6. Non-mandatory classes
7. Great hospital system nearby
8. Has an MD/MBA program

Cons:
1. Cold as hell
2. Good city but not NYC, Chicago, LA, Mia etc
3. Techincally, lower ranked than Rush
4. Not the most diverse school (Mostly white)

RUSH P&C's

Pros:
1. Great city (Chicago)
2. Great residency program
3. Great research
4. Great EM exposure
5. Inter-profession learning (with nurse and pharm students)
6. A bit more diverse

Cons:
1. Expensive (Tuition is 10k more per year and COL)
2. Far from friends/family
3. No MBA program
4. Harsh winters
5. Lose my summer!
6. Flipped classroom/Mandatory lectures
7. Have no interest in Illinois outside of the Chicago area

Sounds like you are more excited about buffalo!! esp with the in-state tuition, imo Buffalo seems like a better fit for you and your goals

1. Cold as hell
I mean.....technically...… I think it would still be pretty hot if it were cold as hell 😉

I think both cities are generally similar in terms of temp though, and if you want to practice in NY, Buffalo is the better option since a lot of people end up matching in the state.

Your options point toward Buffalo! I wouldn’t really worry about “rank” in this situation as neither are that tippy top tier by the rankings and the fact that Buffalo is in the area you want to match will give you a more important leg up with matching in NY. The fact that it is cheaper is an added bonus. Best of luck!

Well I don't know if this is just because most people who attend Buffalo lived in NY and want to stay in NY. Some people from Rush still match to NY programs

Still think I should consider this approach even if I like the city of Chicago more?
