Hi everybody,

I want to know if I should even bother applying to Rutgers Newark because they require applicants' GRE scores to be competitive in all three sections.

Anybody applied or applying to schools that have a GRE scores standard, but have low scores?

What are your scores? I don't have the minimum and I still applied. Hopefully I get in !

Hello, I decided not to apply since the deadline was close. I had 146V 151Q 4.0AW. Good luck!

Thank you, good luck with other schools. I have V147 Q146 W4.5. But I have lots of hours so maybe that will help me lol

Hey have you heard back from Rutgers yet? I have an interview there in 3 weeks.

Good luck, nothing yet I'm worried, do you mind sharing your stats or when you submitted it and how long you waited?

Overall GPA: 3.68
GRE: V:156 Q:164 AW:4.0
About 300 observation hours in a total of 5 different settings (including a school and acute care)
5 years of military experience (I think this helps a lot)

Good luck! When did you submit your application? I submitted mine on Oct 1 and the wait is killing me.

Thanks! I applied Sept 2nd. I have the interview next Friday. They gave me the option to pick between Oct 26th and Nov 30th so there is definitely still another interview group after me.

Thanks for the quick response. Gotcha thanks man. If I get an interview, I might DM you some questions hehe.

Absolutely, I will be happy to help. Did you get any interview anywhere else yet?

Thanks man! I haven't since I only applied to Rutgers. Yeah, not the smartest thing to put all my cards into one school. Unfortunately, Rutgers North is one of the only schools that I meet all of their pre-reqs. If I don't get in, then my back up plan is to take extra classes next year to meet pre-reqs for other schools and pick up more hours at different settings.

If you don't mind, what do you think of my stats:
Undergrad major: biology
cGPA: 3.83
pGPA: 3.9X
GRE: V154 Q158 AW4.5
Observation hours: 1300 hours at an outpatient clinic in 2 different locations (I emailed Rutgers about this and they said this would suffice, but would probably take a bit away from my application since it's only one setting).
Extra-curricular/achievements: youth group leader (~5 years), camp counselor (2 summers), several other upper tier volunteer positions for my church, Dean's list, dual honors associate's degree, presented a research paper at 2 conferences, gap year leadership program, academic excellence in exercise science program for associate's degree (top student in the class)
Certifications: NASM personal trainer (expired), ACE personal trainer (current), CPR/AED current
Work: personal trainer (2 years), PT aide (2 years), medical sales (.5 year), some other small jobs
I also think both of my essays (Rutgers and PTCAS) were pretty good since I had five other people read it and offer feedback. And I'm pretty confident about my references, too, since two of them were from PTs whom I worked with for about a year each, and the third from an employer who I've known for years because he's also been a mentor and friend to me.

I feel like my stats are pretty decent, but I'm nervous that my lack of observation hours in a variety of settings will hold me back.

Yea your stats are great. I really do not see any reason why they would not give you an interview. Unless there is some big red flag I am not seeing, or you do not meet their prereq requirements, then I think you should be fine.
