Just called them up and told me that response should be coming within the week for college to college transfers 😱 so i'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best...did you take the PCATs? What are your stats?

Hey, yea i took the PCATs i got 91% and my gpa is 3.82...what about you? and im just curious, how old are you and what year are you in?

Hey quick question. I'm at RU right now getting a degree in Molecular Bio & Biochem. Do you guys know how college-to-college transfers work? It wouldn't apply to me since i'll be getting a degree may 07 right? Thanks.

Well, the way it works is that first, you have to make sure you have completed all the pre-reqs as shown on the pharmacy.rutgers.edu webpage...then you apply simply through this website: http://admissions.rutgers.edu/collegetocollege/; transfers accepted from 2/1 all the way through 5/15-that is, transfers are only allowed to apply for the Fall semesters, not midway through the school year. Letters of recommendation, PCATs, and personal statement are all optional. Then, if you've got potential according to their standards, they call you up for an interview. And then you end up waiting like how I am for a response. And that's it!

Well, I'm going to my fourth (and last year if not accepted to the pharmacy school) at RU; 19 years old- graduated from HS a year early...didn't take PCATs, since they are optional and wasn't really up to taking it...GPA is 3.978. Ok, how about you- age and year at school?

It takes a while for mail to get out of New Jersey. Many mailmen are mutated from all of the pollution and use common mail for subsistence. The rest are just shot in the streets of Trenton by crackheads. I sent away for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles watch back when I was 8 and my parents back home JUST NOW got it back postmarked "May 14, 1997."

(People from WV have to make fun of New Jersey whenever said state is mentioned. Don't ask why, you wouldn't understand.)

Hey! Watch it with those NJ jokes! 😀 There are plenty of things I could say about West Virginia now aren't there?

My usual strategy is this:

"Ah, you're from West Virginia, married to your cousin?"

"No!?!? What are you talking about?"

"You know, West Virginians like incest."

"Wow, never heard about that. I'm not really into that type of lifestyle though, you obviously are more familiar with it, have any statistics?"

Then they are just confused and stop talking. If the person is from New Jersey, however, you must perpetuate the conversation so you can DESTROY THEM. Verbally.

Still waiting for a response...

Any response at this point is very much welcomed...don't even care anymore whether or not I get into RU Pharm School...the suspense is killing me!!!

Bump.

They sent you an email yesterday? Did you get anything at all through the post? I'm on tenderhooks right now still waiting for a response...guess that means I wasn't accepted...

I'm gonna rant. Why?

Because some people have already had a response back from RU Pharm School stating that they've been accepted, while I'm here waiting and waiting for just a response. A yes or no will do at this point- I'm sick and tired of waiting for just a response. Why would the admissions office reply to applicants at different times? It just doesn't make sense.

Sorry for sounding so bitter, but I just had to get this out of my system.

I'll update y'all as soon as hear back from them. Please still keep your fingers crossed because I, for one, have definitely lost hope. Guess I'm not living up to my username on this forum...

Man, oh man.

I've been waitlisted.

That just goes to show that even with a near perfect 4.000 GPA, you are not guaranteed anything (at least with Rutgers).

So for those of you who have been accepted, please make your decision of whether or not you will attend and reply back to the Pharm School ASAP to make this less painful for my sake.

Too depressed at the moment to write even more. Will provide an update soon.

I was also placed in waitlist and got accepted. So dono't give up and pray . 🙂

Well, it's official.

Just got notice this morning that I've been rejected from Rutgers Pharmacy School.

My dreams have just shattered into a million pieces.

It is not! Theres always next year and try applying to other schools. Rutgers isn't all that... they try to weed people out during their 4yrs anyways... keep trying to fail people, not nice at all!

Keep your chin up, NJ sucks =) I can say that cuz I live here.

I'm sorry that you're so upset! I understand how it feels when things don't go your way. I'm also from NJ and knew going into it how hard it is to get into Rutgers, especially as a transfer student like myself. Hopefully you're planning on reapplying next year to a bunch of schools- by then you're resume will be all the more impressive!

Best of Luck to you!!!

I'm really sorry that you didn't get in, but did you try applying to other pharmacy schools? I'm sure that you'll get into an out-of-state school...I had applied to a bunch of others besides Rutgers, I heard that Mass. College of Pharmacy Boston isn't as competitive as others, you should try applying there...don't give up hope...best of luck to you

i got to rutgers right now. i am a 3rd professional year (5th year) i like you guys "transferred" in after i earned my undergrad degree. there was 12 of us in my class. i was the only out of state applicant accepted as well.

if you want to know anything let me know. id advise living off campus though, housing there is very expensive. this is the first year they did interviews with.

trust me you dont want to come here. there is a lot wrong with rutgers pharmacy schoo. they overenroll the classes. we had 300 people in our class. the accreditation board is on the school's ass about decreasing class size so they make it very difficult and try to fail a lot out. i suggest try other schools you get the same degree wherever you go. i know people who go to LIU and St. John's their school doesnt want to fail their students out and actually work with the students to help them do well.

by the way, if anyone is looking for housing. i have 2 bedrooms available at my place in piscataway to rent. great place that is 2.96 miles from the pharmacy school in an awesome neighborhood. i been living in pway for the past 2 going on 3 years.

send me a private message or post here.

MCP is a good school, just expensive. the dorms are in the same building as the classes. it is nice harvard med is up the street as is north eastern. boston is a great place and NJ is more expensive than boston.

very true. they are rediculous at this school. we don't have labs b/c class size is too big. they try to nail the students at this school. also another thing you will findout about rutgers is it is very clicky. the class is mostly indian so you have that click, then you have asian click, then white. if you talk to anyone at rutgers now, they will not have good to say. a lot of the professors will give their opinion.

one of the worst things about this school is conflicting information. what you learn in pharmacology is different than the therapeutics class and different from the medicinal chemistry class. you have to selectively forget what you learn. it is really a nightmare if you ask me. i honestly say apply to other schools. i know a lot about other schools because i heavily interviewed at top schools and reviewed their funding and demographics. if you need any help let me know. i say go to Univ of TX it is a good school and in austin. NJ has nothing it is a big sinkhole. i cant wait to get my degree and leave this state.

However, if you want to go to the pharmaceutical industry and get a fellowship after graduation then Rutgers is the perfect place to be.

What other school is in the "silicon valley" of pharmaceutical companies?

It will be the easiest school to get a pharmceutical industry fellowship from.

If I were an in-state resident, I would be trying to get in after high-school.

I think Rutgers is #1!!!!!!!!!! At least in my book.

But then if you just want retail, then do not go there, if the school fails people out. It all depends upon what you want.

I also have learned tips for getting into cliques. Know the Indian and different Asian countries cultures, cities, a little bit of each language, and then start talking to those students. It always works with me, and I am not in pharmacy but a VERY international program dominated by students from Asian countries.

I applied to Rutgers 0+6 pharmacy program and haven't received a response yet. Hope everything works out well....

I heard back from Rutgers (accepted 🙂) back in late September. That was for 0-6 though.

i go to rutgers. i see some are from florida applying to RU.

stay away from rutgers. the school lacks in so many ways and they are in trouble with accreditation boards for having class sizes over 300!!!

Hey! I'm applying as a transfer student (with an undergrad degree from Rutgers - go figure) and was wondering how hard it is to get in. Stats? Experience from other transfers? And anything else that might be informative. Thanks!

I am an associate degree holder from Passaic County Community College, and I am one of 10 students who got accepted in third year Pharm D. Always remember....Success is directly proportional to how bad you want it. Good Luck...

oh yea im from paterson too, im in the six year program, just finished my first year.

Hi, I am currently a high school senior and I have been accepted into the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy but I am very confused. I am confused whether this means that I have been accepted into the 2+4 program/6 year program and whether I am guaranteed admission into my first professional year as long as I keep my grades up. Also, do I have to take the PCAT? Any help concerning these questions would be extremely helpful. Thanks.
