For anyone that has applied to Rutgers, I'm a little confused about their application. Does anyone know if it's necessary to submit High School transcripts even if you have a B.A. already? Their application asks for High School info and their instructions say to submit High School transcripts, but I'm not sure if this applies to those who are applying as transfers to begin with the first professional year (not for the 0-6 route). Also, they say that they "recommend" taking the PCAT, but do not list it as a requirement. Is there anyone that has gotten in without taking it?

I know that I should call the admissions office, and I will on Monday, but I began filling out their application Friday evening and obviously can't get in touch with anyone on the weekend.

Thanks for any input you can give! 🙂

i thought that the pharmacy schools that offer the 0-6 program dont generally have that many seats for transfer students because the seats are already reserved for the hs students in the program that maintaned a certain average that the school wants. Someone told me that generally schools that have the 0-6 programs is much more difficult to get in if u are a transfer student. But dont rely on my words for i am still in high school still trying to find out more info on pharmacy career. If any of the info i stated is wrong please point it out as i am still young and dont really know what im talking about pharmacy.

That is what I have noticed of some 0-6 schools, but Rutgers does not seem to be like that. From what I have researched, they give equal opportunity to students already doing their pre-pharm as Rutgers students as they do to others, who want to enter as a 3rd year, or P1.

As I believe... those pre-pharm students have a seat already as long as they maintain a certain gpa. Rutgers is hard to get into because they already have more students than they want - they take in a lot of HS students into new brunswick and theres also those in the newark program that transfers to NB beginning 3rd year. I've seen 2 students on this forum rejected from rutgers this year with 3.8-3.9 gpas... and I believe its because they didn't have a bachelors. My friend got in with a 3.5 and bachelors but is also a rutgers students. Definitely call admissions and find out for yourself - look up dean colaizzi - he's the nicer dean.

Rutgers will only take a few if any transfer students each year. Transfers can be at Rutgers already and transferring into the P1 year or they can be from other schools, but either way it is very difficult given the extremely limited amount of seats open.

I applied there last year and yes, I did need to send my high school transcripts in even though I had a Bachelors and a Masters Degree already!

I got into Rutgers as a transfer from within Rutgers (no BA), and it is so competitive that you have to take every single thing into account..for instance my gpa was 3.82 while a kid here on the forums had a 3.9 something and didnt get in. I would recommend taking the PCAT, and keeping your GPA as high as you can..pharmacy experience is a big help. Basically Rutgers will accept about 8 transfer students each year, because they just dont have enough room in the program. I think 8 students out of 250+ applicants were accepted. The state is already on their *ss about having too many students for accreditation, and the dean i had an interview with even said that the program shouldn't be 0 to 6, that everyone should take prerequisites and apply while in Rutgers, not out of high school. But..that's how things are, good luck!

Thanks everyone for your advice! I really thought that Rutgers had more seats open to transfers, but I guess not. Although they are not my first choice, it would definitely make it A LOT cheaper since i'm in-state. I guess I'll just have to try my best and hope for the best 🙂
