Rutgers???
Started by platinumdl
I am a Rutgers 2011 student. I was accepted right from HS, since I only completed my first two years I don't have too much to say about the pharmacy school as of now. All I know is that they accept a very small amount of transfer students, also there usually are not to many people talking about rutgers on this forum.
I've been accepted into the Rutgers Class of 2011 as a transfer student. I was REALLY not expecting to get in there because I heard that they only accept 10-20 transfer applicants a year. The majority of the ~300 pharmD students come in from Rutgers pre-professional years.
I have almost no pharmacy experience, but very good stats (98 PCAT & 3.9 GPA). I think numbers are more important to Rutgers than to some other schools.
In any case, their application is cheap ($60) and easy (bio. info and one short personal statement), so it can't hurt to apply. But leave yourself plenty of other viable options.
Good Luck!

thanks, I am going to apply to rutgers, but it will not be my only option.

Hey, did you apply via college-to-college transfer, or as a transfer student from another school? I only ask cuz I applied through college-to-college, and I interviewed with them on the 29th of May, but I'm still waiting for a response. Please lemme know.
Invisigoth, could you provide me with more information about your background and who the advisors were that accepted you? I am looking to be in your position soon but I did not do as well on my G.P.A.. What school did you go to before hand?
I don't know who the advisors were or who reviewed the application. I interviewed with the dean, who most likely conducts all the interviews. I've just completed my last semester at Touro college, a small liberal arts college in NY, where I earned a BS in bio. I worked at a community pharmacy for about 6 mo.s and volunteered for a couple of months at a hospital pharm. in Israel, on vacation. Anything else?

I heard they only have about 10 seats for college-to college transfers so its real difficult. do u mind sharing ur pcat and gpa scores.
If anyone hears back from RU and they are a college-to-college transfer, please post. Thanks.

I don't know yet. I am doing a fellowship which starts Monday. There are several different options to complete the Rutgers component, and teaching is a popular one. I really want to try teaching. 🙂 I actually was accepted into Rutgers as a student, but I decided not to go there - still, I was fated to be there, apparently. 😀
