Hey, I checked the link where it listed school's gpa and what not but ofcourse rutgers isnt listed. Who got into rutgers recently, what kind of gpa/stats did you have? Thanks!

I don't think this is going to be too much help, I was accepted from HS into the pharmacy program at rutgers (I am the class of 2011). From HS I had an SAT of 1350 and a 3.9 GPA...Now i am entering my first professional year. However, I know people who applied this past year with = SAT and above 4.0's and were turned down. I suggest that you apply and see what happens, but make sure you apply to other schools as well. In terms of professional year GPA... i dont have much experience with that, however my roommate's brother just finished his p1 year and the average prof. year gpa for his class was somewhere in the low 3.0's. Does that help at all or do you have other questions?

Yea that helps alittle bit thanks. I was looking for more transfer GPAs from undergrad. I actually do have another question for you- ok so heres my situation. I'm going to University of Buffalo as a prepharm currently, but i've decided i might want to live closer to home. Going to Rutgers would be great, very close and instate cheap tuition. How should i apply? Do i have to wait till sophmore year and apply to Rutger's Pharmacy program as a junior? Or can i apply now lets say for the 2nd semester of my 1st year, or for the 2nd year, and get into the 0+6 program? Thanks. Or should i apply to rutgers as a prepharm, then apply again into the pharm school? will that increase my chances?

First, I would call up the admissions office and ask them these questions to get their "official answer" about deadlines. However, my understanding is that students who are applying from undergrad do so during the spring of their sophmore year. They are expected to have the core classes, (Bio and Chem I and II, Organic I and II, and Physics I and II, and calc) completed by the end of their year. This would set you up for entrance into your first professional year the following fall. I'm about 90% sure that you have to wait to the end of the sophmore year to apply directly into the EMSOP. In terms of living closer to home and having cheaper school bills then it makes sense to transfer to rutgers earlier...but i think the chances are the same no matter where you are going to school for the pre-pharm. Just make sure you do well in your classes and get a good PCAT. Remember as a transfer you are applying for 15-20 spots so you have to have solid scores. Again about the tuition, I just paid my first semester bill and all together (no fin. aid considered) it was $5700 for commuting.

ouch, im really in a hole here then. What are we looking at, 100? 200 people applying for the 15-20 spots? I live in North Jersey, so the only commuting options are Rutgers, Saint Johns U & Long Island U. Rutgers is the best school though, and cheapest (11g a yr) compared to LIU's aprox 22 and SJU's 30. I wish i had more options.

anyone else?

Excel,

Firstly, there was a thread about Rutgers about a month ago. That thread includes some stats of a few people who got in, including me.

The dean told me that over 500 students apply for the 15-20 transfer slots available, so getting in as a transfer is VERY competitive.

It's only possible to transfer there before the first professional year, which is the third of the six-year program. This means that you have to complete all prerequesite classes listed on the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy website before entering.

I'm under the impression that Rutgers cares LOTS about stats, but less about peripherals. I got in from a small liberal arts college with a 3.9 GPA and 98th% PCAT, but almost no pharm. experience.

i did a search for rutgers and didn't find anything. thanks for the help though
