RVUCOM-SU vs UIWSOM

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to see if I could gage some opinions on these two programs. As both are fairly new programs I am trying to figure if there are some other opinions that could help me.

In terms of RVU-SU I do appreciate that the campus is connected to the Colorado campus which has a proven track record with boards and match. I am slightly worried about rotations as they will be very spread out across Utah.

In terms of UIWSOM, I am a fan of the more Urban feel of San Antonio but the lack of board scores to confirm the curriculum causes some uneasiness.

I got great vibes from both programs and definitely counting my blessings to have a decision to make in general; any opinions at all from current students/applicants/ whoever would be awesome just for some extra guidance.

Don’t know enough about RVUs board prep but the board scores are mainly up to the student. If I remember UIWSOM had PBL type so you may end up doing some extra studying, but it will be a large function of what you put into it.

Seems like a lot of factors such as cost, geographic preferences, where’s the support system, what UIWSOM clerkships are like and comparisons of the curriculums. Posting those would probably help us suggest better.

If there’s no large cost difference or geographical preferences, I´d go with UIWSOM just for the urban feel. Ive also never been to Utah and couldn´t imagine that dessert mountain life.
