Do you guys have any advice where to go for more information on the above topics? I'm approaching the start of my PGY-4 year and its time to hunt for jobs. I'm currently looking more at salaried, public type positions just for stability's sake, because I'm terrified of "going backwards" due to production after the guaranteed salary runs out, and then being stuck and locked out of the metro area if the compensation or job really starts to suck (My wife is locked here for another 4 years). But I don't want to pass over a job I may really like or that may pay significantly better than the public sector salaried jobs just because I'm afraid of RVU's and production. Do you guys have any advice, or anyone want to share their experiences with this?

I took a Comm. MHC job out of residency for decent salary, great benefits and it was an approved site for NHSC loan repayment. After 7 years, my medical school debts were completely paid off. Add in the state retirement, paid vacation, sick and educational time and I was quite well paid as compared to someone in pvt practice.
