Is anybody here familiar with the RWJMS BA/MD program that it runs jointly with Rutgers University? I'm considering applying for the program but I don't know where I'd stand if I tried to apply...

Also a side question: I'm currently shadowing a General Surgeon. I don't know whether it's smart for me to try to get a LoR from him or not... I would very much like to, but I don't know what exactly the means are for me to make sure that he writes a very positive and good LoR for me.

Also for some reason the volunteer department at the hospital that I'm shadowing the doctor at consistently gives me a very bad time. Quick example: Today I was shadowing the doctor. I was scheduled to volunteer Friday but I forgot I had another commitment so I quickly ran over to the office to tell them that I couldn't come in (I was in scrubs). The lady looks at me and gives me a gigantic hassle about how I am shadowing and about whether it's being done through the volunteer department and stuff. I finally break to the point and I tell her I cannot come in Friday to which she responds "Ok just take a break. We're always overbooked we don't need you for a long time" and I'm like "Would it be possible for me to come in next week? I scheduled this Friday two weeks in advance..." and she's like "Just call we always answer" which, I know is total BS. I told her taht I've called and left messages and she just ignores me and shoos me away...

Is it better my clinical experience is shadowing or should I try to somehow mend this relationship that I don't even know how it soured

Did you end up applying to the BA/MD program?

If yes,
What kinds of students did they look for?
What types of stats would be good for the program? Do you need any extraordinary amounts of volunteering or shadowing?
Did they focus on high school activities or mostly college activities?
Anything else that may improve chances?
