hello
have you guys received a letter from the school regarding general information about registration?? i was told that the school is going to send letters in february but i still haven't received anything... also is there anything we have to do other than submmitting tghe transcript??? and if you have completed the required immunization, is it okay to send the record to the school now??

thanks

Unless things have changed, you will be getting information sometime next month. As far as immunizations are concerned, they had a special card/form for us to get filled out by a physician, PA, nurse, etc. (whoever did your immunizations or who can initial by them as having them done based on previous shot records). I don't know if they would accept a different form, so you might call and check... and also, I don't know if I would submit it before you have everything in front of you (i.e. computer order form, scrubs order form, meningitis vaccination form, shot record form, health insurance verification form, etc.). And with registration... as long as your final transcript has been received and all pending courses completed, the school will register you for classes the first week of school. The only thing you have to worry about is paying for it, whether it be loans, scholarships, out-of-pocket. So be sure to fill out your FAFSA if you have not done so yet if you are planning on paying with loans.

And in case you were wondering... first day of class is July 7th.

Do you recall if they still want another round of transcripts, even if you haven't taken additional classes since applying?

They will want a final "official" transcript... I would just send one to be safe.

I graduate this Spring, so do you know if I can wait to send my transcripts in at the end of the semester? Also, I am just starting my Hep. series now and I think it takes 6 months. Classes start in less than 6 months so do you know if this will be a problem. I don't think it should, as long as I have documentation that it's nearly completed by the time classes start. Thanks in advance Toothfairy.

There were several people in my class who didn't finish the series prior to school starting. Just as long as you have documentation that you have started the series (and preferably with just the last shot to go) you will be fine. You can wait to send your transcripts until the end of the semester, but make sure it is final (i.e. degree received is shown on the transcript) and I would do that as soon as final grades are posted because if your undergrad school is anything like mine was, it takes them much longer than it should to send it.

You are right. That was my fault. We had so many emails before Christmas with proposed starting dates, and I got things mixed up. Third and fourth years start on the 7th though... 1st and 2nd years start on the 14th.

class starts on the 14th or orientation/registration? I will be out of town for my wedding from the 9th to the 13th...this could be bad.

I called the registrar's office today. I was told that they will need another official transcript sent directly to the dental school, and that orientation/registration is July 14th. He pretty much told me to relax and wait for the packet though:laugh:

The Welcome to the Profession Ceremony will probably be the 12th or 13th. Not saying you should be missing your honeymoon by any means because you shouldn't... but last year they made a big deal about it being mandatory attendance, so you might want to call the school and let them know your situation.

We are not going on a honeymoon because school would be starting. My only concern is if there is something I need to attend before the 14th. Initially, I was going by what I found was the date of orientation last year on the 16th...I thought I would be ok since we would be back on the 13th. Are you sure that orientation/registration isn't on the 14th and start of classes thereafter?

orientation/registration is the 14th... orientation will go on for like a week and a half, and during this time you will gradually start classes by the second week... and you will more than likely have the welcome to the profession ceremony the afternoon on the day before school starts... which is mandatory attendance
