Has anyone gotten an interview at sacred heart? If so, how long did it take to hear back from them?
Has anyone gotten an interview at sacred heart? If so, how long did it take to hear back from them?
I am currently in the program and last year I interview on a Thursday and I got an email that following Tuesday 🙂
My roommate heard back about 3 weeks after her interview but that was because she interviewed a couple of days before Christmas. She heard back around the 2nd week of January.
🙂
Thank you for the information! 🙂
How long did it take to hear if you got an interview or not by the time you submitted your application?
Also, how do you like the program and what were your stats? I'm so nervous about getting in!![]()
No problem! I heard back about a month after I sent in my application. I did send my application like a week before it was due in December though haha. So not sure how long it is in peak times. My roommate submitted her app mid-October and heard back around Thanksgiving.
Here are my stats:
University: CSUN
Major: Kinesiology (BS) focus on Exercise Science
Overall GPA: 3.31 (OTCAS)
Pre-Req GPA: ~3.5-3.7 (depending on school)
GRE: V: 152 Q: 154 A: 3.5
Observation: 1000+ hours Outpatient Ortho Clinic
100+ hours Hand Therapy
20+ hours school-based
40 hours Outpatient Neuro Clinic
Don't be nervous! It is stressful. I remember last year I was so lost. I started a blog this year to help people a little with the application process because it can get overwhelming taking that all on your own. I just finished week 11 of my first semester and I love it. There are weeks that are a bit stressful, but that comes with the territory. It flies by after the 3rd week! Before I know it, it is Friday again and I just start over Monday. The professors are great and really want you to succeed without making yourself crazy. The first semester is the toughest and they know that. They always try to make us relax and tell us that we can't be perfect at everything. Before every exam they always tell us not to worry so much, especially if the quiz or something isn't worth too much. I like that about them. They care about your overall well being, which is always a good thing. 🙂
It's worth a try. Sacred doesn't require GRE this year I think. I know they are requiring it for later years. Some people in my program came from other backgrounds. So don't think you're not competitive enough. You never know, your personal statement may catch their eye 🙂Thank you so much that was super helpful!
I had an overall gpa of 3.74 and a pre-req gpa of 3.9 but my GRE was 151 for quantitative, 148 for verbal and 4.0 for writing. I have 40 hours of pediatric, however, I have been a special education teacher for 2 years now. Are my stats competitive for Sacred Heart?
Hi purplegold86. I applied to the MSOT program at SHU in early August this year and just last week they informed me that I have been invited for an interview for 12/20. I'm super excited and a bit nervous as well. I wish you luck!
My stats:
University: UMASS Lowell (for my business degree) / SUNY Westchester Community College (for OT pre-reqs.)
Major: Business Administration
Overall GPA: 3.49
Pre-Req GPA: 4.0
GRE: None
I applied last month to Sacred Heart as well! The posts above have much higher benchmarks than I do, but I am still hoping something other than my GPA will pull through. What a stressful time waiting for the next e-mail 😕... I am (slightly) relieved to hear that others are still waiting for a response on their application. I hope everyone gets where they want to go, and congratulations to those moving forward!! That is such a huge achievement and its worth feeling proud![]()
Thats awesome congrats! I did get an email from them saying I have to complete statistics first before they can invite me for an interview (which I am completing this semester). So I will not know until possibly January/Februaryish 🙁 I'm hoping my transcript will arrive to them before the due date.
Did you also have ot volunteer hours?
I am just so nervous that I will not get in anywhere. I see people with 100+ hours but I only have 40 due to my original major being education and working a full time special education teaching job. I also crammed all of my pre-reqs this summer and throughout this year cause not a single class I took in my undergrad related to a pre-req lol
Did you have to contact them for them to tell you that you won't get an interview until after you complete statistics? Because I'm also completing an outstanding prereq this semester (intro to anthropology), but they never told me that...
Ah, I know. I am nervous about that too. I read thread after thread of these crazy high hours, GPAs, GRE.... it's hard to keep optimistic. On the other hand, I have read a couple of the bare minimums who were asked for interviews (from last application cycle)!
For SHU, its in the hands of the admissions committee.. I Just hope we hear sooner than later!! AND for some good news..

Hi!! I was wondering how much tuuition is for the whole program? I see that it is about $11,500 each semester with 4 semesters. So is that about $46,000 for the whole program or do you pay additionally for your clinical experiences?
This is a HUGE help. Thank you!

Hi There! Do you know any of your classmates acceptance benchmarks? I am not sure if this information is commonly shared, but I am really anxious if I have a chance at an interview. Do you happen to know of anyone in your program who had really good life experiences, but lower on the GPA scale?
PS your blog is amazing, thank you for sharing this!!

After about a year of creeping, I decided to get an account. I applied to SHU on 10/3 and have only received the generic email saying that I will be contacted once my file is reviewed. It seems like a few other people have gotten interviews already so I'm naturally starting to get a little nervous. I called today and left a message to see if there is any update.
I was in the group of 27 that interviewed on 12/20. I heard back on 12/22 - - - I've been ACCEPTED!Has anyone heard anything?
Yes! =)Congrats PlayWithClay! Are you going to attend?

I attended an interview there in December and I came from Oregon so I know how you feel! The school was a little more difficult to get to since the nearest airport is about 30 minutes away. I flew into New Haven and stayed there and took an uber to the interview. I had never been to Connecticut either, but if you have a little extra time you should walk around Yale! Downtown New Haven had some nice coffee shops and museums too.I just received an invitation to interview at Sacred Heart on February 23rd! I applied at the end of November. Is anyone else interviewing at SHU soon? I'm a little nervous because I'm coming from Nevada and have never been to Connecticut before.
You're welcome! I wasn't super impressed with the program and I ultimately chose to attend another school. They will be moving the program into a new building next year so that is a plus I suppose.Thank you so much for your advice! Yes, I am nervous but excited at the same time. I'll be flying into Laguardia so I hope it won't be too difficult to get to the school! I will definitely try to take a walk around Yale if I have time! How did you like the school?

Great! Thank you! I will be arriving the morning before the interview so that will give me enough time to get to CT without having to stress too much!I'm from NYC and used to work in CT. A word of advice regarding getting from Laguardia to SHU: give yourself plenty of time to get there. Traffic can be heavy if you drive. The Metro North train may be a good option, although I think you would need to take a cab from the train station to the school.
Oh, good to know! Congrats on getting into a program that suits you better! You're welcome! I wasn't super impressed with the program and I ultimately chose to attend another school. They will be moving the program into a new building next year so that is a plus I suppose.

So do you think a shuttle would be the best transportation method? I'm looking into the shuttle services and the train, but not sure which would be better to take. I'll cross Uber off my list. Thank you for the tips!Yes! Last year my flight was delayed so I got to LaGuardia super late. I ended up taking a shuttle van from LaGuardia to my hotel for about $75. I know an Uber would cost you way more so avoid taking that. 🙂
Well the reason I got the shuttle is because my flight got in at 11:30pm. My original plan was to take the train then uber from the station. But you definitely have time to figure out the expenses 🙂So do you think a shuttle would be the best transportation method?
