anyone else starting to think that their "safety schools" are not even that safe?

There's no such thing.

Yeah, no kidding. I applied to Jefferson as a "safety" and right after the interview I was put on the alternate list. Oh well.

my safety school just waitlisted me
why oh why

i'm thinking the only safely school is your state school, assuming you live in a state that strongly prefers instate people. other than that, the private "safety schools" receive so many freaking applications because everybody and their dog applies to them because they're a "safety school."

Unless, of course, your state is California.

Doesn't New York have a bunch of state schools? I know Oregon, Washington, and Colorado only have one (and they're mighty competitive). I guess I thought if there were a bunch of state schools you'd stand a better chance being an instate applicant with them.

Try Iowa...one school with inflated stats (for real I am exactly their mat. average) and only 66.6% in-state student body...I really should have applied as a wisconsin (nearly 100% in-state) or an illinois resident. I really really wish I was a Washington resident with their large class and nearly 100% in-state incoming class make-up, MSTP is my only shot to be a husky.
