Have seen a surge of patients using Salonpas patches for myofascial pain. Active ingredient is menthol and methyl salicylate.

Are any of you recommending use of this? Is this a reasonable alternative when Lidoderm is cost prohibitive? How about long term use? I would imaging the side effects would be the same for long term use of low dose aspirin (?). Thoughts?

OTC Bengay type med.

Counterirritant. Limited downside.
I like Pennsaid, Volteran, and Flector, but each a little less than "triple cream".

what is your recipe for "triple cream"?

Don 6 from Brown's pharmacy in Colorado.

NSAID, Ketamine, muscle relaxant, neuropathic x2, anesthetic.

I've noticed these multi-creams have gotten more popular. Are they expensive?

yes kind of.

the pharmacy i use - yes, it is a compounding pharmacy, but 1. its topical and 2. ive visited their premises and know them to be quality people and 3. its not a preorder.

normally the cost is roughly $300 per monthly supply, usually not covered by insurance. but this pharmacy does do some $25 or $50/mo supplies...
