Here's an article from CNN I thought was interesting.

I've never actually taken an economics course so I was wondering if someone could explain, in detail, how this same-day approach yields more revenue while taking up less time for a physician. It seems very cool, if it works. Also, does anyone know of a link to this data that doctor is talking about?

Thanks!

I actually read that article last night, I think it makes sense. More family docs need to pay attention to econ. There is always a demand 👍

That's funny--I read this article on MSNBC this morning before it was posted. I agree, great read.

FYI: we offer same day appts to the patients for specific illnesses only, not physicals and things of that nature. while I think it is a great approach to gain revenue and give the patients the freedom to call and be seen that same day, they still make the appt same day, and guess what, they still don't show up. so I think that the patients will do what they want in the grand scheme of things!! just my .02!! 🙄

I think this is why so many offices are starting to charge people $40-$50 for no-shows without a 24-hour advanced warning.
