So... I know none of us are ADCOMS, but... How "bad" does it look if I get the same mediocre, yet passing grade in a class that I am taking as a repeat? If course I know there are other factors to include, and yes gunners I know I should give up and jump off a bridge 😉

But in all honesty? Help...

Well, it can't look good. I doubt it'll be a deal-breaker though.

Happened to me with Calculus. Man do I hate mathematics!

It didn't seem to be an issue though. I had a mediocre GPA and a pretty solid MCAT.

If they want you in their class, you're going to get accepted, even if you have two consecutive "mediocre" grades in a class.

I'm in a similar situation.

I took Organic 2 with an easy professor and had a death in the family right before the final, and earned a D (totally my fault). I retook it with the devil and sold my soul for a C. Hardest class of my life. I'm considering retaking again, but I feel my GPA will be solid enough without it.

Unless that grade is an A, it will look bad.

Well... it's not good. I have a couple of these in my pre-reqs, and one in microeconomics... mostly before I discovered anything resembling a work ethic though.

Yes it's ochem1. Yeah I have "reasons" but excuses are excuses and I won't be using them.

Obviously it's not an A or I wouldn't have 1. Taken it again 2. Written this post.
Most my other grades are A/Bs. I had a B- and it looks like I'm sitting at a B-/B again. Obviously it just doesn't click.

I've only retaken a hand full of courses anat (C/A), physics 1 (B/A), baby bio (C/A), stats (C-/A-), chem 1 (B/A-), and now Orgo 1 (B-/B) this is over the course of several years because I'm a non trad. Except Orgo.
And a third time just ain't happening!

Thanks for the input.

Because if I got a B- I felt like I didn't know the material. I was correct. And it dragged my gpa down and it's not the best to start with...

Interesting.

I've never felt that way. I've gotten a C in a class that I was a master of the material (Orgo 2). Goes to show you that a class is entirely dependent on the professor. 👍

Most people after getting A for these science classes think that they know the material and find out they did not know chit when they start studying for the MCAT...a B- is not a bad grade...People should not retake B-...That stuff happened to someone I know who retook a B- and ended up getting a D with a crappy professor.

This is very true and only some SDNers believe it. 👍

When you have an otherwise mediocre application raising my gpa/grade from a B- to and A would have made a tremendous difference. Hence why I elected to do so because I felt if I got a B- I didn't know the material, period. Which is very evident by the fact that I have the same grade 🙁 oh well. I have no issue retaking poor grades (anything sub B is poor to me) but remember being a non trad I have a different view and different set of hurdles to overcome. I hope it's just this prof (took the first time rushed in summer and second time now, same prof)

I have two C+'s in my transcript for science prerequisites and have had several interviews and interview invites. I wouldn't worry about it. Do well on the mcat and you'll be okay.
