I am having such a hard time starting my Personal Statement. I don't know where to begin...It would be so much help if I can review some sample essays. Can someone send me some examples of personal statements?

Nobody's going to send you a sample - it's personal. Just start writing. Why do you want to go to pharmacy school? What did you experience that made you realize pharmacy was the profession for you? Just start writing - the ideas will come. The personal statement is the reason you took English Composition in undergrad.

What you can do is go to Borders and buy a book - they have several books available for sale with sample personal statements. My friend bought one last year, it had a lot of statements in it for all kinds of professional school -medical, dental, pharmacy, law school.

Otherwise, google is your friend, if you invest enough time you'll find plenty of excellent personal statements. I spent an entire day in June just researching and reading statements online, but it helped me tremendously. I can't give you any direct links, because I upgraded my firefox since then and hence lost all my saved bookmarks unfortunately.

I don't know what personal statement you're referring to, but I found a thread started by Panda Bear (whom I admire, even if he doesn't know it), which was very funny. It's titled "My personal statement...and I got in." It is, however, a medical school personal statement.

That is exactly the one I was referring to. I am quite ashamed to admit this, but last year when I first read it, I thought it was a real statement. 😳 😳

I remember thinking to myself, wow I really really suck 🙁, I have neither saved African babies nor improved economy of a third world country.

I thought the same thing, too. I showed it to a bunch of friends, and expressed my admiration for the statement (because it was very well-written), but it wasn't until I saw Panda's disclaimer that I actually acknowledged it was fake.

But not to worry. Several who responded in the thread thought it was genuine.
