These are the questions I have: 10, 17, 37, 47

10) As described in the passage, the long-term consequences of child maltreatment have been found to include all of the following outcomes EXCEPT:
Is depression a mood disorder? Is anxiety a symptom of chronic stress?

17) Based on the passage, the mental functioning of individuals with AS is most compatible with which approach to intelligence?
I crossed out C and D, but have no idea how to pick between A and B.

37) Based on the results of the first study, can the researchers conclude that genes play a causal role in anxiety disorders?
C and D both appear to be correct. What makes D better?

47) Some studies find that the association between discrimination and health is stronger for U.S.-born members of certain ethnic minority groups than it is for immigrant members of the same ethnic minority group. This finding suggests that the possible effect of discrimination on health is most likely related to:
I have no idea how to get the right answer on this one. Why are the incorrect answers wrong and what makes the correct answer right?

Yeah, you know when you get depressed from studying non-stop it makes you sad or bored haha. And yeah, if you're stressed out it can make you anxious. I wouldn't memorize these verbatim, though. In that passage there is no support for personality disorders so it's more of a POE question.

17) Based on the passage, the mental functioning of individuals with AS is most compatible with which approach to intelligence?

The key sentence is in the first paragraph when it says "in contrast to autism, AS is marked by intact language and cognitive abilities. So the AS people are lacking in social skills but are still normal in other areas. This is more in line with the "8 intelligences" which describe intelligence in terms of discrete items like social / intellectual / etc. People can have some or all of the 8 intelligences according to this theory. The general intelligence theory is more like an all-or-nothing approach.

On the x-axis, the parental history group was meant to represent the biological factor and parental criticism group was meant to represent the environmental factor. For example, let's say I have some anxiety issues. It could be because my mom also has anxiety and it runs in the family (genes) or that my mom always yelled at me when I was a kid (environmental). It's probably some mix of both. The question stem is asking if genes can be said to play a causal role in anxiety and the figure kind of make it looks like it could be based on the children who have anxious parents also being prone to being anxious. But choice (d) is saying that we can't make this conclusion because maybe the reason my mom was anxious in the first place isn't because of her genes either, maybe her mom also yelled at her. Choice (c) is a true statement, but doesn't mean that genes couldn't also play a role. Also, the passage and question stem are more referring to answering based on the parental history group to address the "gene" component.

I didn't really like this question. The question stem says that the association between discrimination and health is stronger for U.S. born members of an ethnic minority group than immigrants. So think of an example where some family moves to the U.S. then has a kid. According to the question, the mom / dad seem to experience different health discriminations than the kid. Just try to pick to an answer choice most related to this. The parents might slightly adjust to living in the U.S. but the kid will likely be more "Americanized" and integrated into non-cultural customs. This difference kind of relates to social integration. The other choices didn't relate as well, but I thought it was a crappy question overall.

Yeah, this is kind of how I went about with the question too. But I interpreted the question as saying US born minority members are more discriminated more than the immigrants. And because of this I wasn't 100% with the option that dealt with "social integration." I realize now that I misinterpreted the question, so the answer makes a lot more sense now.

I think that's the correct interpretation- I thought of it that way too. As for why U.S. born kids would be discriminated more, I have no idea. I think social integration would still fit here though. I'm assuming the kids socially integrate more- but somehow this results in more discrimination, apparently.

Glad I am not the only one who thought the question stem didn't logically make sense!
