Hi everyone! I wanted to share my experience with the Master of Biomedical Sciences (MBS) program at Samuel Merritt University, since I didn’t find much information about it when I was researching SMPs.
I graduated from UC Davis in 2025 with a lower GPA and was looking for a structured way to strengthen my medical school application during my gap year. I compared a bunch of SMP options, and even though this program is new, I ended up choosing it. They offer guaranteed interview agreements with several DO schools.
The program is based in Oakland, but it can be done fully in person, fully online, or a mix of both, which is nice if you’re not local (there are people in different states doing it).
If anyone is trying to find the right SMP or has questions about anything, feel free to ask! I know how confusing it can be when you’re trying to pick the right SMP.
