From CPMA FB:

SMU administration, faculty, staff, and students celebrate Epic Gift!

Samuel Merritt University (SMU) received the largest donation in its history – a 10-million-dollar endowment dedicated to student scholarships for SMU’s School of Podiatric Medicine (CSPM) and Nursing Program.

The exceptionally generous gift was donated by the estate of Russell Odell Lewis, DPM. A California College of Podiatric Medicine (CCPM) graduate, Dr. Lewis was the only African American in his CCPM graduating class of 1965. During his 35-year medical career, Dr. Lewis opened and maintained several successful private practices in Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco. Dr. Lewis was often referred to by patients and friends as "the man with the golden hands."

Much respect to Dr. Lewis for giving back to the profession he loves by helping the new generation. A true podiatric physician.

Samuel Merritt thrives off of their bajillion nursing programs first and foremost followed by PT/OT.

I am not surprised those funds were dedicated to the nursing programs.
