Quick question, in your opinion, do you think someone who made a 1420 cumulative on the SAT have any change of doing good on the GRE? After looking at some of these stats and researching online, I'm thinking I might not be mentally cut out for grad school, although I would love to be an OT.

Get a good study guide ( Kaplan etc.) and spend a couple of months or so going over it. Take the practice tests and see where you need to improve. I'm not sure with OT but in PT the AW score is important at many programs. Study the vocabulary section. There are words that they like to see used in the AW section of the test. If you prepare for the test you will do fine.

SAT scores and GRE scores are highly correlated, so I would suggest studying for a very long time, several months or more. A GRE prep class also might be helpful too. Use multiple study books, starting with the easy one and working your way up to higher ones. You could always get a tutor too if you needed it.

I'm a sophomore so I really want to start studying now as I obviously need to. Anyway, I'm thinking about ordering the Manhattan Prep 8 book package as I read that it's good for people who need to relearn things from the basics. Also, I'm thinking about the Princeton Review, Kaplan and Barron's. Which one would you guys recommend?

I highly recommend the NOVA Math Prep Course. It isn't formatted for the new GRE, but it's really hard and really good practice. I would start with the Princeton Review book because it's easiest and work up to the Nova one. I used the Barron's flashcards, which were helpful for vocabulary but not so much for math. If you buy flashcards, just buy the verbal ones.

Okay, thank you I'm hoping to order some this week so I can start studying. Oh and I looked up the NOVA math book on amazon and it is now revised for the new GRE : )

definitely study. i got a princeton review gre book and did the practice questions and tests. i'm sure any review prep would work. i actually got a little bit higher than i what i scored on the sat (i took the gre 2 years ago when it was still scored like the sat), so if you got a 1420 on the sat you should be able to do relatively similarly (translated to however the gre is scored now of course).

Is the SAT still scored out of 1600? because 1420 is not bad...

haha no it was scored out of 2400, so it was actually horrible
