I've applied to 20 programs and am worrying my @$$ off that I'm not going to interview anywhere. My main reason is that i flunked my step 1 boards the first time and that my grades are average. Does anyone know of people that were in this situation before? I really need some encouragement. 🙁

It's still kind of early to expect calls.....now apply carefully. Don't go to big guns first. You should be able to get a position somewhere if you apply carefully. Don't worry too much now, you can't change anything...just think about what you can do to increase your chance. You should be ok..... again, apply wide, and as many programs as you can.
Good luck.

You will most certainly get an interview if you applied at appropriate programs. Let's be serious. A lot of medicine programs go unfilled, a decent number get filled by IMGs, etc. You will definitely get interviews unless the only places you applied are the #1,2,3 medicine programs in the country. Heck, even then you might get an interview.

Don't worry!! I'm sure that plenty of places would love to have you- and it's still REALLY early! Many other specialties aren't even really offering interviews at all yet. Hang in there big guy!! 😉

I agree, you will get plenty of interviews if you applied to 20 places. Hang in there! I also know that many people have scrambled and been able to get into a good program that way. Keep your chin up!
