Previously I had a 290 on the RC section of the OAT – the only thing that was keeping me from an interview. I retook the exam 3 days ago and finally met the interview criteria. Once SCCO verifies my official scores I’ll be given an interview date.
SCCO is my first and only choice. Does anyone know how many spots have already been filled for the entering class of Fall 2008 and when the actual interview dates are for the month of February? Has anyone heard of someone getting in this late into the admission cycle? Thanks for your advice!

Congrats on getting an interview mango. I have no idea how many spots are left in the class. But I had my interview on Jan. 8th, and got my acceptance the following week, and I know someone else who got accepted in November, the first week of interviews.
Even though people are accepted, some may have only reserved their seat opting to see if they can get other schools, so if you don't an immediate acceptance, you may get the waitlist. I know someone 4 years ago who got in 3 weeks before the start of the fall quarter. She was on the waitlist, and kept calling the office to see if she moved up the waitlist, and the school just let her in and stopping waiting to hear back from the other people.
You'll speak to Dr. Voorhees about the whole admissions process after your interview.

Good Luck. maybe we'll be classmates.

Hi mango. I just interviewed at SCCO this past Saturday Jan 26 and received my acceptance email today. Yes! I was told that approximately 88 seats had been filled out of around 96 I think. SCCO accepts well over that amount however due to students being accepted to several schools and opting to attend somewhere other than SCCO. Point being that even if you get put on the waitlist because all seats have been filled at this point, if your interview goes well and your stats are competitive then you still have a pretty fair chance of joining the fall class. Good luck.

Do you mind share your stats? Thanks. 🙂

I'm a post-bac student. I was a grade school teacher for two years and decided to go back to school and pursue optometry. Point being, after doing something for a while that I ended up not enjoying all that much I was extremely motivated to find something I could enjoy for the rest of my life and that ended up being optometry. So I'm very excited and grateful.
