I've been placed on the alternate list at SCCO. Does anyone know how many people they usually take off of this list?
Also, on the information sheet they sent me with the numbers from last year say: accepted=138 (Is part of this the waiting/alternate list?), matriculated=98

Thanks to anyone who can answer these questions!

SCCO overaccepts. Last year around April they already accepted about 125 students even though their class size is usually 98. I guess they calculate a percentage based on past experience of those who are accepted but decline their offer. So if there are open seats available thereafter then they start accepting applicants on the waitlist. So the 138 is the number they initially accepted and those who were accepted on the waitlist. Applicants on the waitlist are ranked as well so if you are on the top of the waitlist you have a better chance of getting in. And I don't think they start ranking applicants until all the interviews are done. Their waitlist is extremely long. There were almost 100 waitlisted applicants last year.

If they matriculated 98 people, then that was probably max number that they wanted in the class. They gave 138 people a acceptance letter, which means that 40 people decided not to go to SCCO. As we get later and later in the year, more people will probably decide not to go. After the interviewing process is over, they will take people only from the alternate list, so some of those accepted were probably on the alternate list at some time and took a position once someone else dropped out, but who knows how many of them. I hope that helps 🙂

Hey 310Bruingirl, I remembered that you had similar OAT scores like myself (something like a 330 AA/350 TS right?). Well I was wondering what kinds of extracurriculars were you involved in because it worries me that someone with a similar OAT score is placed on the alternate list.

Good luck moving up on the alternate list by the way!
