Hey everyone. I was just wondering, if you're in med school right now, what are the class schedules like at your school (9-12 or 9-5 & days of the week)? Thanks so much for your help!

KCUMB:
Typically ~ 8-12 lectures Monday, and Wednesday-Friday
Tudesday OMT ~ 8-12 (usually just half of that, either 8-10 or 10-12)
Afternoons (~ 1-5) are labs... anatomy, micro, path, small group discussions, etc.
Friday afternoons are usually free after noon or so, sometimes later if it is a packed week. One other afternoon during the week is often free, but not always as some weeks are pretty busy. At the worst you usually only have one or two days a week where the afternoon is completely full, with the other lab afternoons requiring your attendance for an hour or two block (could be 1-3, or 2-3, or 3-5 etc.).

The schedule at NYCOM changes depending on the system that we are doing at the time. In out first course The Fundementals of Osteopathic Medicine class was 8-5 PM five days a week. In current course the Muscular Skeletal System we have 9AM-12 PMor 9AM-2PM depending on the day. There are a few 10AM-5PM. Nothing schedule wise is consistant in our school. It varies daily. On days when there is class in the afternoon lunch is from 12-1.

Sounds like you guys are on the same genesis curriculum that KCUMB switched to years back. Do you like it as much as we do? 🙂

it varies week to week, depending what we're studying and how much vacation we've had. generally, Mon is lecture 8-5 (right now we have anatomy lab 2-5), Tues/Wed/Thurs is histo/OMM/doctoring lab 8-3, sometimes with two-four hours of lecture in there, so sometimes 8-5, Fri is lecture 8-3 at the latest (campus always closes at 3).

I like now that I am no longer in class from 8-5 and actually have time to study the material that is being taught. Mixing up the schedule is good too. It gives you something to look foward to.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday= 2 hours in the morning.
Tuesday= 2 to 4 hours in the morning (varies)
Thursday= 2 hours in the afternoon, and sometimes morning classes too.
