I looked at the syllabuses just posted for my Biochemistry and Physics 2 classes, and realized that two of the exams occur on the same days. I knew that the finals would be the same day when I signed up for the courses, but I didn't expect to have an additional conflict. Each exam is two hours each. I would have time to take both on both days, but now I'm considering postponing Biochem to next semester and taking genetics instead.
I realize med school (and the MCAT) will be like this, but has anyone done well on two tough exams on the same day? I think I could do it, but I'd rather have at least a day between exams like that. Thanks.

I'd welcome to you to college, but I'm assuming you're not a freshman due to biochem/phys. 2 being prudent.
That said, good luck! I had three on one day, the day before my birthday, on a Friday.
Coffee will make you less cranky.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm a junior. I've had exams the same day before, but I've heard Biochem at my university is the hardest pre-med class. I'm pretty sure I'm keeping my schedule the way it is though. Those exams aren't until November and December anyway.

I took my cell bio and organic finals on the same day and lived to tell the tale. The trick is to start studying a few day sooner, it'll suck come test day but at least you'll get it all out of the way

I took gen chem and physics finals on the same day. It wasn't an issue. I actually preferred that because I get in test-taking mode all day.

2 exams are not a big deal especially if they're only two hours long.

if you're really concerned, you can shoot an email off to the professors and see if you can get one pushed forward to spread out your tests. some professors can be responsive to student schedules so it can't hurt and it should leave you more flexibility for scheduling later on.

Physics 2 is a really doable course. This is coming from someone who is TERRIBLE at physics (physics 1 is my lowest grade in all of college). In my experience, it's kind of like math--provided you understand it, it's stuff you won't forget too quickly. If you studied hard for physics like a week before your midterms, then stopped and switched to biochem, you'd probably retain all the physics. Or at least that's how it was in my experience. :luck:

I had micro and org chem on the same day and it worked out well. Like someone said, start studying for the exams early 😉

If you can't do well on two tests on the same day then medical school probably isn't for you

I never said I can't do well. I also mentioned med school and the MCAT in my first post. I was just considering switching one prereq for another. Thanks though. I agree with you.

I agree. I busted my balls for a B+ in Physics I but easily got an A in Physics II. Quite frankly, I think the material is more interesting and you will enjoy studying it more.
