I just got an interview at a medical school but am wanting to know if I should sacrifice a week's worth of pay for an interview a week earlier.

Do I just schedule par my convenience? Or is the earlier the better?

Depends on the school. If it's non-rolling admissions, I'd say schedule your interview whenever it works best with your schedule. You have plenty of time to work with before the school starts handing out acceptances.

If it's rolling... the general consensus is, "earlier is better," but I don't really think a week would make that much of a difference. If you're really concerned, maybe try looking at the school specific threads (especially from past years) to get an idea of when/how often the committee meets? I know that the adcom of a certain school meets the third Thursday of every month (or something like that), so some people were trying to make sure they had their interview done before that date.

Congrats on the interview. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I would personally just take the interview a week later. For a month earlier I would sacrifice a little pay, but I don't think a week would make any difference. Then again, I guess it depends how much you make per week?

this was my first reaction too

honestly i don't think it's worth changing, not for a week's difference. even the school thread is pretty worthless for this - maybe the school's running on a different schedule this year? go to work, make the $$, go to your interview. these are the sorts of issues that people torture themselves with at this time of the year, and it's just not worth it. don't indulge your inner neurotic.
