Quick question:

If I apply in late July or early August to a school that has interviews from say October to January, and I get an interview say, sometime in September. Are you able to choose a relatively late interview date (December or January?) So basically, do you get to choose from every interview date when they invite you?

Also - I am applying to some MSTPs, so is the policy for scheduling interviews the same for MSTPs and MD only?

I can't answer your question because it probably depends on the school.

But --

Why would you want to push your interview out? Schools are on rolling admissions, so it is to your advantage to interview earlier.

No, not necessarily. Many have online scheduling systems where you can sign up for your date. However some only provide dates up to month or so out. Others just assign you a date and you'll have to call and request a change.

Not sure about policies for MD vs. MSTP.

You do not usually get to choose from any available interview date, and pushing an interview back to relatively late can suggest to them that you're not very interested in their school.

If they only provide times for a month, can you just wait for later times to open up? For example, I might want to push all my far away interviews into the same month or something. I definitely don't want to fly cross country for every single interview....

This is very school dependent. You'll have to talk to individual schools should this happen and work it out.
