scheduling step 2

a few quick questions about scheduling step 2.
I'm currently an MS3 and i just registered for the CS portion of the exam today in order to be able to take it in the location i desired. The registration site says that they'll send a 12 month window when I'm allowed to take it. Is that 12 months from when they send me the scheduling thingy? I want to take it late, but I'm not sure exactly when i want to take it, so I want to make sure that i won't have to take it before april 4 2007 (though i'm sure I'll be ready to be done with it by then). so essentially, is the 12 months from like may 2006 to may 2007, or it is 2007, if i register for it now?

Also, regarding CK, i didn't register for it yet, in large part because I hadn't determined a good three month window when i want to take it. I definately want to take it later, but I just wanted to make sure that there won't be any repercussions for not registering for it early.

not entirely sure if i understood your question. basically i registered and paid for it on march 24th, 2006 and my eligibility period was march 24th 2006 - march 24th 2007. after it is processed you get an email that you can schedule your test now..check the nbme site for status of your application. i hope that helps.
