😱 OK, it is mid-October 2007 (I think, right). I'd like to apply to medical schools, and do it ASAP given my age (30) and the age I'll be out of residency (~40).

I've never taken Chem I/II, Bio I/II, or Orgo I/II. Those are the pre-reqs for applying to med school, correct.

My basic problem here is that it is October and I didn't act soon enough to enroll in Fall classes somewhere, such as Chem I and Bio I. Since Chem I/II are required before Orgo I/II, I'm looking at a long road before med school and am already 30. So I can ill afford to lose this fall semester since Bio I and Chem I aren't generally taught in Spring semester (right?).

So... what do I do? I was thinking that I should take Bio I and Chem I over the Internet, and then take Bio II and Chem II in person next semester. But are courses with lab even offered on the web? Probably not. So by being a month behind and not acting in time to take Fall classes, have I fallen an additional year behind?

You also need Physics 1&2 and usually a semester or two of english, and possibly some math classes depending on where you are applying. I am also not so sure you HAVE to take chem 1 before you take organic. In my opinion, organic was like starting from scratch, my chem 1&2 were of little help to me. I think that would also depend on where you are registering for classes though. I would suggest you not waste your tuition dollars on online classes if they don't have labs, because lab time is required for these sorts of classes by most med schools. Hope you find a situation that works!

Take a look at some course schedules if you can, I believe some schools may occasionally offer the level 1 courses in the spring. That may only put you a semester behind as opposed to a whole year. As you mentioned, online courses would probably not have lab sections which are required.

Remember, you'll have to take the MCAT too. If you can start classes next semester and have them finished December 2008, then get ready to take the test in April 2009, I think you can apply for the 2010 cycle.

Are you enrolled in college now? If not check with community colleges to see their class schedule, many may have these courses. Remember, make sure it has a lab.

you can try to do a spring then summer semester type deal
i know msu offers orgo I and II in the summer
and i'm pretty sure they offer bio 1, chem1, phys 1 in the spring semester as well
also if you somehow get yourself into the honors college you can take classes without taking the prereqs...although thats not advisable sometimes

I was able to take physics 1 in the spring, summer or fall. I can't remember the others, but if your school is big enough, you should be able to start the sequence in the spring.
