Anyone ever worked for a schnucks before? I graduate in May. I got an offer from Schnucks and I'm wondering how people tend to like it there. I've been doing Walgreens for the past 2 years as an intern - looking for something a little different. Thanks!

What is a schnucks? It sounds very similar to the yiddish word for a man's pee-pee.

LMAO. I thought the same thing--schmuck. I thought he spelled it wrong and it was going to be a work vent post! lol.

Who was the genius that came up with that store name?

Man's pee-pee? We're medical professionals here...you can use the word ding-a-ling.

I used to work with a girl who called it an anchor-doo-doo. Girls had a kluke. She was from rural Ohio and could do hog calling, too.

lol. First off, i'm a girl! =) Secondly, It's a grocery store chain - similar to Safeway, I believe. Third, you guys are hilarious!

I worked there for 4 years as a tech during HS and college. I liked it, but I think mainly because I loved the people I worked with. The DM was great and pretty much let RPh's run their pharmacy according to their likes/dislikes (obviously within the law of course). I've since moved South and worked at Winn Dixie for a while where their pharmacies were micro-managed by the DMs. They use PDX which I believe is different that the system Wags uses. I now intern at CVS and have to admit that I prefer the CVS system to PDX, but otherwise I can't think of any really significant differences.

The store I worked at put one in when they remodeled, but it was the most ridiculous thing-- it was this tackle box type thing that you put on a conveyor belt that carried it halfway across the store, then out to the parking lot. Whenever you put heavy things in it, the box would get stuck somewhere in the middle.
Some of the newer stores have modern drive thrus and the older ones may not have one at all.

jme102: I work for Scnucks in St peters as a pharmacy student. I like it but I am not sure I would like to work there after I graduate. The working conditions are good I work at a fairly busy store but we still only fill a max of 300 scripts a day. The store down the street from us fills around 50 a day but they are still a new store. One thing I don't like is you pretty much have to find your own vacation coverage since there is such a shortage of pharmacists especially floaters. I also don't think the pay is as competetive as other stores especially walgreens. The computer system is very old and ineffecient but they are supposedly updating this later in the year. The people I work with are great and thats one thing I will really miss when I leave. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
