One of my friends just got $25000 a year scholarship to Michigan. His scores aren't anything extraordinary. What schools offer scholarships? Who do they offer them to?

Did anyone here get offered a scholarship? Where? what were your scores?

I got, but im pretty sure that its not ONLY based on scores.

I know that Penn, Nova ,UOP and UF give...

UCSF and UCLA offer scholarships, probably based purely on stats because they offered them to me and i have nothing but my gpa

I have a feeling Michigan only gives scholarships to minorities or those with financial hardship. I could be wrong though. I would love to get a scholarship from Michigan but instead I will be paying out of state tuition (even though I live and work in Michigan now).

For UNMC you have to fill out a short scholarship application + fafsa. I'm guessing they give more need based scholarships.

Hi,
Did UCLA and UCSf award you scholarship before or after you accept their offer?

My UCLA scholarship was granted just 3 days after they told me I was accepted (obviously before I told them I accepted).

did they tell you how much you're getting at tufts?

For those who received scholarships, did it come directly with the acceptance letter or did you fill out an application for it😕

In order to stay competitive most dental schools will offer scholarships in order to recruit as many top candidates as possible.

Stats, nothing great, but my $20,000 scholarship is pretty tempting.

I'm not buying these muffins. It's dental school! Top candidates are easy to come across. The 2 people that have gotten scholarships that I know, aren't really 'Top Candidates." They are both minorities. Wondering if its a minority thing or if its an application for scholarship that they filled out.

Law schools need better students to inflate the class ranking thing so the students can get better jobs with firms, but I think most dental schools are generally happy with their students just going out and setting up shop with their own practice. What does a dental school have to gain by getting 'Top Recruits'?

My tufts scholarship is for $6000. It doesn't exactly dent the hefty cost of tuition, but it's an honor nontheless.

However good we as students may be, there's still a top 10%, and they're the ones picking up the majority of these scholarships. I for example, am white as the driven snow, and I managed to grab a $30k scholarship to Pacific...

Remember that schools like to boast about their specialization acceptance rates. The better the students they accept, the more likely they are to have higher rates so I believe dental schools are willing to invest in the top quality students. In addition, your friends who are minorities, there may be a very good reason why they received scholarships (not ONLY that they're minorities). They may have things in their applications that you're not aware of (awards, community service, etc) or their interviews may have gone extremely well so I would take that into consideration. Just a thought.
