So How far is it? or whats going on with that Scholl 2+2 program. Anyone any news? anyways who would u ask to get a straight out truthful answer?

2x2 is staring this fall with the class of 2012, so we will be on line with most traditional allopathic medical education models. We actually take more classes than our allopathic counterparts so some of the classes are changing as well. Biomechanics is being moved from fall of 2nd year to the summer between 1st and 2nd years, and some other minor curriculum things are being changed, like the first year 'fundamentals of podiatric medicine and research' class is being expanded and starting next year will be called 'podiatric medicine and surgery.' They are also implementing some other changes like requiring students to take part I on the first date its offered and the 2nd date is only for failures, and passing the boards is a requirement to graduate. Makes perfect sense to me, I mean if we're the best podiatry school in the world, we should act like it! 👍

Some of the threads in the pre-allo/osteo forums are pretty discouraging, as many of the students don't believe podiatrists are even doctors or have prescription rights! It makes you wonder which group is bringing bias to the table?

This seems like a very good step. Will this affect 4th year internships?

the externships should not be affected for the fourth year is what I was told at my interview. Required rotations would be started after finishing up at scholl's clinic in early november of third year.

yeah, i went over there and did some searches about this. pretty crazy how arrogant they are over there. hopefully its just the pre-meds over there who dont know anything about podiatry yet....👎

Dean Terence Albright, he's the visionary, past APMA president and a huge contributor to the profession.

With him and Dr. Welch (President/CEO of the University), they are taking RFUMS/SCPM to new heights!

yeah, i went over there and did some searches about this. pretty crazy how arrogant they are over there. hopefully its just the pre-meds over there who dont know anything about podiatry yet....👎

even at RFUMS/SCPM there were med students taht didn't know about DPM priveleges, but that's the beauty of integration! with more exposure, all parties learn more about each profession and have a higher appreciation because they have a "face" now to relate it too.
