As for school "rankings" they seem to vary from person to person.
I'd go to the school you feel is the best fit for you (i know it sort of sounds corny) but think back to your visits.....
---where could you see yourself living, being happy, etc.
---take into consideration family/friends living nearby or close
---scholarships (i've seen a few stories on these boards about the school offering scholarships if you decline...although i think they were all several years back).
I am in your same situation and I can definitely related to you and your decision process. I am from Philly, so to me Temple is close and I can just commute (maybe).
But for Scholl, my strong interest in them is solely based on the interview. I opted to take my interview at the regional site in Newark, NJ and did not see the campus, which I regret sooo much. So but I heard on the interview seems nice, especially their curriculum schedule. Although I find it disappointing that they don't audio-record lectures, so I am leaning towards Temple more.
But if anyone can be kind enough to describe to me the facilities at Scholl, I will greatly appreciate it! I have to place a deposit by the 28th for Scholl, so time is ticking away for me.
I will add that if Scholl's campus and facilities are as nice or better than OCPM or DMU, then I am sold to Scholl. I have visited both OCPM and DMU and was accepted, and is completely impressed with their state-of-the art facilities and technology.

i was incredibly unimpressed by Scholls facilities and I visited DMU, AZPOD and scholl. if you seriously want to go there, then you should absolutely go to chicago and see the campus for yourself. spend some time on SDN searching for threads about the whole where to live debate too (north chicago vs. elsewhere). If it costs you 400 bucks for a ticket, too bad. this is not a decision to be made by talking to a few people from Scholl at a hotel conference room.
Thanks, Airbud, for your advice. Yes, I am planning to fly over there within the next few weeks. Since I am still in class now, I won;t be able to visit Scholl's campus until after their deadline for a deposit. So I just wanted to hear what others have to say, but in the end, I know that it is my own decision.
Also, can I ask you why you were unimpressed by Scholl ? What didn't you like about it compared to DMU and AZPOD? For me, DMU's anatomy labs, curriculum, and simulation rooms stood out, so is Scholl equipped with these same features?
By the way, which school are you going to this fall: AZPOD or DMU?

Call Kim or Mandy and see if you can get that deposit extended. I'm almost positive that Mandy told my interview group that if anyone needed an extension she would consider it. And since you are planning to visit the campus soon, I would think they would be a little more understanding of your predicament.
Obviously I attend Temple and I think it is great but I know people who attend Scholl as well. I think deep down you can't go wrong with either school. Each has their pros/cons.
I would chose the school that I felt most comfortable at and could see myself excelling. Both schools are great academics and fairly active clubs. I think Temple's clinical training is better than Scholl but its clear from looking at residency match lists from year to year that both schools are producing successful students.
Scholl has nice facilities in my opinion. I don't know why anyone would knock them. They have an on campus food court, nice lecture halls, nice campus and the clinic is in good shape. But if you are going to compare it to schools like DMU and AZPOD who are just a few years old then of course they have nicer facilities, they are brand spanking new. But in the end, lab dissection is lab dissection whether or not you have a plasma tv or not. And after your first year, you won't be seeing those plasma's anymore.
Thanks for your comments. What is the structure of Temple's anatomy courses? i know that there's a didactic portion, which is obvious, but do you have access to online dissectors to view at your own discretion prior or after your dissection for labs?
THe main reason why I consider a school that has computer monitors is in the benefit of seeing a professor/teaching assistant show to the rest of the class how to dissect or display some special anatomical structure(s) in a particular cadaver, without the chaos of crowding around the cadaver or having to see between two taller students. Plus there's no messy lab manuals with formaldehyde stains and other fluids contaminations that I have to touch while reviewing the materials. But this factor will not be the driving point for my decision.
Our Lower Extremity Anatomy and Gross Anatomy are run slightly different. But we do not have dissection videos for either one.
Basically, you will be assigned a body (4 people per body in Gross and 2 per body in Lower).
You use your dissector and lab manual that they provide you with step by step instructions. The instructors move around lab and will assist you or sometimes take over dissection for a few minutes to show you some tricks and tips and help find hard to find structures.
Having the monitors is nice but not that important in my opinion. Students usually have a lab manual that they leave in lab at all times and a clean one for home. That way you aren't taking nasty stuff to and from lab. Let me know if you have anymore questions
