Most (all?) DPT programs require you to put down a non-refundable deposit as a means of committing to that program. You can put down a deposit for multiple programs, but you would subsequently lose out on the deposits for whatever schools you "accepted" but don't end up attending. People often put down a deposit to the first school they are accepted to, even if it is not their top choice, just in case they do not get in anywhere else.
As far as I am aware, schools do not know whether or not you have been accepted, and/or committed to attending, other schools.
