School decisions

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i know its a long post but any ideas? anyone?🙁

I'd like to know your Postbac GPA? And what is your year-by-year GPA trend?

Pending the answers to these questions, I actually think you'll probably have a pretty good application; don't be doubting yourself so much.

Other MD schools to consider : MSU, Tulane, GWU, EVMS, UVermont, USCarolina, Toledo, Albany, Rush, MCW, Virginia Commonwealth, Penn State, and Jefferson, UBuffalo, Rosalind Franklin, Loyola, Creighton, SLU and Boston to start. Other ideas can wait until the MCAT comes back. You'll have to do your own research as to rotation locations.

For DO, consider CCOM in the Chicago suburbs. Rotations occur thoughout many Chicago hospitals and at least one in the suburbs, in excellent hospitals.

Go ahead and claim disadvantaged status, since it's true. I'm not so sure it'll help much, since it occured in another country and an assumption won't be made that you'll go back to your birth community to practice medicine.

I know you mentioned some big name state schools (MSU, USouth Carolina, UVermont), but what are the chances of someone without superb stats being accepted OOS into those schools?
Actually, not so bad, since they charge maybe twice the tuition to help float them through these difficult economic times.

MSU 36/156=OOS=23%
USC 16/83=19%
UVT 74/111=66%

If you get hold of an MSAR, you can see the stat ranges and other good information.

To know how individual med schools weight various factors, you'd have to call and ask or peruse the school-specific thread on SDN. There are lots of schools out there that don't care about CC credits. If you apply broadly, you're likely to hit a number of the nondiscriminating ones.

Thanks so much Catalystik you've been amazing!

Anyone else have any other opinions/suggestions on ways I could improve my application?
