Hello,

I'm applying for MSTP - MD/PhD programs this year.

Currently my school list is as follows:

BU
Case Western Reserve
Columbia
UCLA/Caltech
Duke
Emory
Harvard/MIT
JHU
NYU
Penn State
Stanford
SUNY Downstate *
Stony Brook Univ Med *
Temple University *
Texas A&M
Univ Cal SF
Univ Cal Irvine
Univ Chicago - Pritzker
Univ Illinois - UC *
Univ Mich
UPenn
UPitt *
Vanderbilt
Washington University @ St. Louis
Weill Medical Cornell
Yale

Schools marked with the asterisk are places I feel I will be competitive at.

My credentials are as follows:
37R MCAT; 3.99 GPA
4 Years of Research Experience, 1.5 in a bio based lab, 2.5 in an engineering lab
120 Hours Volunteering in ED
Submitted first author pub (may hear back by June 5th), second author pub, and a (>10) long list of presentations, poster/oral, where my work has been featured, or I have presented.

Should I add more safety schools? Is my list too ambitious?

Thanks.

What in your application are you concerned about?

I just want to know if this is down to earth for me, Neuronix. Thank you for the response.

I think you are underestimating yourself. You have a solid MCAT, great GPA, and 4 years of research experience with results to show from it. Assuming you can talk about research fine, I see no obvious red flags. You should be competitive at more than just those schools that you had asterisks next to.

What are my chances? Read before asking.

Your GPA, MCAT, and research experience are all excellent. Assuming the rest of your application is strong, you should do well. You are probably applying to too many programs and too many lower tier programs. You'd likely be fine just applying to the top-20.

Thanks Neuronix and POKEitsme! Though, I'm naturally a paranoid guy, so I'll wind up keeping this quantity. I feel a lot more confident now.
