Hi guys! I'm applying this cycle and am looking to get some advice on my school list. I've already applied to all of them, but I was wondering whether I should apply more.... I'm worried my list is too top heavy.

My stats/activites are:
  • MCAT: 522 (130/130/132/130)
  • cumulative GPA: 4.0
  • Clinical volunteer:
    • Hospital volunteer (also helped out during the pandemic): 150 hrs
    • EMT: 850 hours
  • Non-clinical volunteer:
    • Food pantry (also helped out during the pandemic): 300 hrs
    • CPR Instructor: 100 hrs
    • EMT certification course teaching assistant: 150 hrs
  • Shadow:
    • 42 hours (4 diff fields, including primary care)
  • Research: 1500 hours
    • No publication because my research isn't going anywhere, but multiple school-awarded grants & 1 poster award a conference
    • Goldwater scholar
  • Other activities:
    • Teaching assistant for gen chem lab (300 hrs), organic chem (100 hrs)
    • Layout editor at school newspaper
  • Other awards/Honors:
    • phi beta kappa
    • school wide scholarships & distinctions
  • Rec letters
    • I'm fairly confident that the letters are good... I'm pretty close to all of my recommenders.
And my school list is:
  • Albert Einstein
  • Boston University
  • Case Western
  • Columbia
  • Hofstra
  • Duke
  • Dartmouth
  • George Washington
  • Georgetown
  • Harvard
  • Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
  • Johns Hopkins
  • Mayo
  • NYU Grossman
  • Northwestern
  • Perelman
  • Rush
  • Jefferson
  • Stanford
  • Brown
  • Tufts
  • Pritzker at UChicago
  • Iowa (Carver)
  • University of Maryland
  • University of Massachusetts
  • University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine
  • University of Pittsburgh
  • University of Rochester
  • University of Virginia
  • Vanderbilt
  • Wake Forest
  • Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine
  • Weill Cornell
  • Yale

Thanks in advance!

With your stats, you’re going to be turned down by mid-tier schools with the exception of those where you have a geographic connection.

You should apply to every high stats school and schools where you have a geographic connection.

Of the former, you might want to add U Mich, and Emory.

Of the latter, you might want to add U of Vermont.

1) man screw you for getting Goldwater with no pubs, that was my dream in UG. Instead I applied with no awards and no pubs

2) apply broadly across T20s then add in a few schools from northeast. You’ll be far more likely to get scholarship from a T20 than you are from a state school
Isn't Goldwater intended for those who will go into Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D?

You're golden. Aim high. Of your list, delete Brown, Gtown, GWU, Wake, Tufts and Rush You'll likely get resource protected out by the last five.

Suggest adding SLU, Western MI, Keck, Cornell, Baylor, UCLA, UCSD, UCSF, Emory, USF, U MI, Hofstra
