Hello! I have produced a school list of about 30 schools and would love advice on what to eliminate/If I should add any. I plan to apply to 15-20 MD and 5-10 D.O. Schools. Please help with any advice!

I am a university of Colorado Graduate living in Illinois ORM with a 3.58 cGPA/3.57 sGPA 511 MCAT (129/125/130/127)

I have:
2500+ Clinical hours as a CNA (Projected 3600)
~200 hours volunteering in both pet rescue & underserved homeless shelter (projected ~400)
~60 Hours Shadowing 3 different physicians (Dermatologist, cardiologist, General surgery)
NO research: in the process of emailing schools to hopefully find some..
- Other EC:
President of my University's Club soccer team for 3 years
Pre-med society - 1 year
Anatomy TA for 1 semester, dissection team 1 semester (~60-80 hours total)

My school list so far:
Loyola
Rosalind Franklin
Rush
Southern IL
UC Denver
Tulane
Virginia Tech
East Virginia
Frank H Quinnapack
Geisinger common Wealth
George Wash U
Mercer
Michigan state
Toledo
U of Arizona
Rochester
Darmouth
UV Med
Miami
Georgetown
Saint Louis U
Tufts
Albany
NY med
Med school of Wisconsin
Drexel U of Vermont

Why no UofI? Where in IL do you live? SIU has ab very specific geographic area they draw their students from.
Western Suburbs of Chicago, Im not sure why I skipped U of I but I will add it. thanks!

If you don’t live south of the I80 corridor forget SIU. OF course if you can make a great case for rural medicine they might look at you but probably not.

Mercer does not accept applicants who are not from Georgia. Virginia Tech and Geisinger have a strong regional preference. Michigan State, Toledo and Arizona accept few non residents with your stats and no connection to the state. You could add these schools instead:
Seton Hall
Temple
Jefferson
NOVA MD
Oakland Beaumont
Creighton
TCU-UNT
Also apply to at least 6 DO schools and include CCOM, DMU-COM and MU-COM.

Thank you!

I would add some shadowing with primary care if you can fit it. Not completely necessary. The additional schools @Faha recommended are good!

If you can afford it, I would suggest Duke and Wake Forest as well. Wake Forest is within your stats, and Duke really cares about writing a thoughtful response to their secondary. Again, these are just suggestions!
