Yes, unfortunately it's another school list thread.

Background
My GPAs aren't great but I do have a good DAT so I don't think I can be too picky, but I also don't want 20 schools. Also, I haven't taken anatomy so many obvious choices might not be on here for that reason.

~3.2 oGPA/sGPA
25AA/26TS/23PAT
Maryland resident

Main priorities:
Cost (schools that give in-state tuition 👍)
Location (I don't want to go too far south as I'm not a fan of dat heat; Cali what up!)

Maryland
UCSF
UOP
UConn
Louisville
Kentucky
Tufts
Michigan
Rutgers
Columbia (reach)
Case Western
Temple
UPenn (reach)
Pitt
Roseman
VCU
Buffalo

Maybes: Nova, Iowa, UCLA, USC, Western, Detroit Mercy, NYU, LECOM
I definitely want to trim this list down a bit but I'm having a hard time dropping due to my stats. 10-15 would be great. Let me know if you think I should add/remove any. Thanks!

I would take Colorado off your list, their numbers are deceiving as the OOS total is almost entirely WICHE applicants (I fell into this when I applied last year and was rejected so I actually looked at the numbers). I think you have a good shot at Maryland. Being a Maryland resident who applied/was accepted last year I know a good amount about their admissions. With your very high DAT, I think your low GPA (not too low) will be offset in their eyes. Temple and VCU would be your most attainable otherwise I believe (from my experience and knowledge). Best of luck.

Great info, thanks. And congrats on Penn!!

What if we are from a WHICHE state that has a dental school? Do we have a good shot at Colorado?

you got beef with buffalo?

@Ferneezy You took the words out of my mouth! I was just gonna say @DogeDDS might want to add Buffalo...but he wants to cut down his list and 16 schools is a lot considering his stats I think. I'd probably cut Case tbh.

Does Buffalo give in-state tuition? I'm looking at the 2014 guide and seeing that it's 159k a year for OOS, which is completely ridiculous.

Edit: I definitely think they messed up with their calculations. It would be about 100k a year, no? In that case, I've added it to the list.

I believe Buffalo gives in-state after one year. Not sure what tuition for that 1st year is exactly, but if it seems incredibly high I'd ask UBuffalo because the ADEA book might have gotten it wrong. I heard last year they got UBuffalo's GPAs wrong. Lol

Edit: I just checked my book and it definitely does NOT add up to what they say it does.

Yeah, I noticed the addition was way off.

okay wth ADEA book. Seems like I need to adjust my list again. I saw buffalo's tuition on the ADEA book too and it is freaking bonkers. I just checked their website after seeing this thread and it is not bad: http://dental.buffalo.edu/Portals/17/estexpsheet12-13.pdf

I wrote down that neveda costs 460k too when I copied their stats on my notes... I wasn't sure if I wrote down the wrong number, or if ADEA actually reported that too.
