Hoping for some feedback and suggestions on my school list as a CA resident.
cGPA: 3.92
sGPA: 3.93
MCAT: 519
State: CA
Race/Ethnicity: Asian
Research: ~800-900 working at several different labs; did a senior thesis (high honors) in a Drosophila lab in the past year. Spent time at a lab while studying abroad for a year, and a psych lab in the two years prior to that.
my senior thesis work might come to be a publication eventually, but nothing as of yet.
Volunteering (clinical): did research/volunteer at a Huntington's Disease clinic (350 hrs), and short time at urgent care center (30 hrs) in my last semester at university, Global Brigades (200 hrs including club work)
Volunteering (non-clinical): worked with elementary school kids at after school programs (~30 hrs)
Physician shadowing: shadowed a neurologist at a children's hospital (40 hrs), also did some shadowing at the HD clinic
Employment: used to work at some academy place during university breaks
EC: played music in orchestra/chamber music freshman year, sophomore year, senior year; rowed freshman year
I'll be taking a gap year working as a lab tech, and planning to do more shadowing and already looking into doing other volunteer work since I know that's where I'm lacking.
