Should I be applying to more than 8 schools? If so, which schools should I add?

Unless money is an issue 8 schools is on the low end for number of schools to apply to. I would recommend at least 15-20 schools to improve your chances. You never know how this process is going to turn out.

Schools I would recommend adding:
The three SUNY (Upstate, Downstate, Buffalo)
Drexel
Rochester

There are others but it seems like you want to stay on the east coast

Add in NYMC maybe? And like the above poster said, apply to 15-20 as more of a buffer, you don't know how the cycle will play out and don't want to have any regrets.
