Hey all I am about to take the MCAT but currently am finishing my AMCAS. I took the MCAT last year and got a 26R but was junior then and did not apply. My ECs are working as an EMT for a year and half now, doing a thesis in nutrition (working in lab for over 2 years), shadowing, tennis club, etc. I am hoping for above a 30 on the MCAT. My gpa is 3.53 overall 3.3 science but I am a double major in Microbiology and History and am in the Honors program at my university. I am PA resident. If I do get what I want on the MCAT is this school list okay? Or are the reaches a little out of reach? Anything you'd suggest adding?

Albany Medical College
Albert Einstein
BU
Case Western
Drexel
GW
Jefferson
Sinai (reach?)
NYMC
NYU (reach)
Penn State
SUNY Downstate
SUNY Upstate
SUNY Stony Brook
Temple
Both UMDNJs
Univ of Illinois
Univ of Maryland
UVA (reach?)
VCU

Assuming you score a 30 on the MCAT, you still have no chance at: Einstein, Case, Sinai, NYU, SUNY * 3, UMDNJ *2, UIC, Maryland, UVa and VCU since these schools are very selective and or OOS. Most of these schools will be out of reach even if your MCAT is as high as 33, since many are public and your grades are low. A lot of the private schools mentioned above have MCAT averages higher than 33, along with BCMP averages of at least 3.6.

Stick with the PA schools for now and hope your MCAT improves. If your MCAT goes up to 30+, consider adding some other schools like RFUMS, Loyola, MCW, Tulane.

You'll have to do well on the MCAT just compensate for your GPA. It's not necessarily low; it just doesn't sparkle. Some of those schools will still be hard to reach though.
