I think I have my list condensed down to 15. Wanted some feedback, especially for schools that I saw were OOS friendly but none came from CA? (I'm a CA resident, but data came from 2013 ADEA guide).

Stats:
3.4 overall, 3.3 science, from UCLA.
23 AA, 24 TS (23 Bio, 25 Gchem, 25 Ochem), 24 RC, 20 QR, 21 PAT.
50 shadowing hours, lots of work and extra curricular and research experience.

Schools:
UCLA
UCSF
UoP
Columbia
NYU
Univ of Connecticut
Tufts
LECOM
Western
Case Western
UPenn
Univ of Michigan
Univ of Maryland
Univ of Louisville
University of Iowa

Iowa had no OOS from CA, same with Louisville. I shouldn't let that stop me from applying to those schools, right?

Columbia and Penn might be tough, because of your GPA, but everything else is pretty good. Iowa and Louisville are both favor in-state applicants but you can try. I tried a lot of state schools myself and am glad I did.

I would add Detroit Mercy, and Minnesota might be easier than Iowa for out of state. I'm from Iowa and didn't even get an interview there... But I say apply to as many schools as you want, if you have the money it doesn't hurt and you never know who will end up giving you an interview. Good luck.

Good list...Minnesota is damn expensive for having stats like that! Almost ridiculous if you ask me!

Is Iowa that hard to get in? I was looking at their website and I really liked their curriculum and clinicals and Multi-media approach.

Was considering Detroit mercy and Minnesota as well, but was trying to keep the list to 15 max for $ reasons.

Having stats like what? And I'm applying for HPSP as well, so hopefully tuition and cost won't be something I have to worry about if I get selected.

You have good stats, I think you would get into a cheaper school. Minnesota is a great school. So if finances aren't a problem I would add it to your list.

You will have a better shot at UDM or Minnesota but like I said, you never know, thats why I say apply to whatever school you want. I think Iowa's mean gpa for accepted students is pretty high, and they don't have the highest percentage of OOS students either.
