I'd like some input on my tentative list of schools for the 2011 application cycle. My GPA is 3.4 and my OAT was 340. So far, I am considering applying to:

ICO
NECO
SUNY
PCO
SCO

Do you think I need to expand my list to include a school that I will "most likely" get into (lower average GPA/ OAT)? I am contemplating adding Nova to this list, but I would have to take another pre-req class, and I'm not sure if it's worth it to do so. What are your general impressions of my list?

You will likely get interviews at all of those schools with your stats. No need to expand your application.

I only applied to one school with a 3.5 GPA and 320 OAT. You will be just fine!

Like retinopathy said, I think your stats are fine for those schools that listed.
If you want a better chance for acceptance, make sure you apply nice and early in the cycle.

I believe the next cycle starts mid-late July, so start thinking about getting your reference letters now. At least for me, getting those letters was a major rate limiting step in my application process.

like previous posters said, apply early and make sure to have good experience under your belt. like working for an optometrist if you can, volunteering, shadowing different optometrists in different areas of the career or even a research opportunity. This will give substance to your interview and really impress your interviewer and give you good stuff to talk about in your personal statement. hope that helps and good luck...my stats were lower than your gpa and oat and i've got into one school so far, on hold at one and waitlisted at one..so you should be sitting good! again, good luck!
