I am looking for a new school. I have two in mind... Oregon State and Portland State. Oregon State has all the programs I want.. Fermentation Science/Microbiology.... Portland State does not have the programs... The only reason I am considering Portland State is that I am afraid that out in Corvallis Oregon there will be no opportunities outside of academics like volunteering. Am I wrong? Would there be volunteering available in a rural college town like Corvallis?

Has anyone else been faced with going to school in the middle of no where as a premed?

I'm a high school senior in Corvallis and I would say there are plenty of volunteering options in Corvallis. It isn't exactly a small rural town. Population = slightly over 50,000. What kind of volunteering did you mean?
